31 Weeks Prenatal Visit

I went to Kaiser this morning and had my appointment with a new midwife. I let them know that I would be transferring back over to The Vancouver Clinic after August 1st but needed to be seen anyway. I hadn't been in for a regular appointment since the beginning of June so I was starting to worry about my precious Kendra. She measured right at 31 weeks exactly which is great! They weighed me and I was up to 158lbs. That means I have gained a total of 20lbs. so far. After my appointment I picked up the instruments for my diabetes to be able to prick my finger and I have another appointment in the morning for them to show me how to use them. It sounds like a pain in the bum.

We finally traded the 2006 Jeep Wrangler for a family car.  This is our new  2007 Jeep Patriot. I absolutely love it, what do you think? *Lily loves it too!

Insurance Approval-FINALLY!!!

We just received our letter. Insurance through Regence BCBS was finally approved for August 1st. Yay, I get my regular midwife back. I will still be going in to see a Kaiser midwife on the 20th because I haven't been seen in over a month but will be right back to the Vancouver Clinic with Kate Fields on the 4th of August. I am so Excited! Finally something is working out. What a load off!

Now, I just need to get my employer to pay my bills.

I Have Gestational Diabetes!

My mom took me to the 3hr glucose test today. Well, I Failed!

Here were my levels:
Fasting level- Need to be lower than 96 I was 72
1 hour level- Need to be lower than 181 I was 196
2 hour level- Need to be lower than 156 I was 166
3 hour level- Need to be lower than 141 I was 104

GD puts the baby at risk of being macrosomic (weighing over 9 lbs,) which may cause shoulder dystocia, higher chance of cesarean section or other medical interventions such as vacuum or forceps assisted delivery. A child born to a mother with GD also has an increased chance of developing juvenile diabetes and the mother has an increased chance of developing type two diabetes later in her life.
I stole all that info.....I have to be put on a diet of low to no sugar content and prick my finger just like a normal diabetic person. It's crappy but whatya do? I will find out more on Tuesday when I have my appointment with the dietitian. (My poor Baby)
I want Cake.......
On another note, I weighed myself on my home scale and it said I was up to 156lbs. Which means I have only gone up about 5 lbs. since The beginning of June. I hope my scale is right.

Another Problem With Insurance!

Well, once again my effective date is being pushed out. I apparently didn't send them all of the correct paperwork. If I would have had a good insurance agent they would have helped me fill it out and also would not have given me a 30 minute deadline to fill out 50 pages. So I had to cancel my 3hr. glucose test. My new effective date for Regence BCBS is August 1st. I am hoping Kaiser will get me in for the test this month and just start back up with my original midwife next month. We shall see.
